Tencent has played down Donald Trump’s ban on its WeChat application, believing it will only influence its US functions.
The tech giant operates an equivalent messaging system in China known as Weixin which it hopes will be unaffected.
The larger fallout might be Apple’s revenue in China if its iPhones are not allowed to obtain Chinese messaging applications.
WeChat has far more than a person billion buyers globally but claims the US only accounts for 2% of its income.
Previous Friday, US President Donald Trump requested US firms to stop performing business with both of those WeChat and TikTok inside 45 days citing countrywide protection concerns.
The TikTok ban was anticipated but still “shocked” the company’s owners ByteDance. WeChat, and its guardian enterprise Tencent, also discovered alone caught in the crossfire of the escalating tensions in between the US and China.
However, Tencent, the world’s major gaming agency, downplayed Mr Trump’s government purchase when it reported its 2nd quarter effects on Wednesday. It observed a 37% rise in revenue.
“If you appear at the government orders from May perhaps 2019 and then of course the government buy a couple of times ago, they specify really clearly they protect US jurisdiction, and as a result we do not see any impression on providers advertising on our platform in China,” explained James Mitchell, Tencent’s chief tactic officer.

Small business analysts are unclear about the complete implications of the US bans on Tencent and ByteDance, and are waiting for more information.
There are fears that Apple could put up with if the ban stretches to its operations in China. Experts say profits of its Apple iphone will be hit tricky if Chinese buyers are not authorized to down load messaging applications like Weixin on to them.
The govt purchase said it would ban “any transaction that is related to WeChat by any particular person, or with respect to any home, topic to the jurisdiction of the United States, with Tencent Holdings Ltd. (a.k.a. Téngxùn Kònggǔ Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī), Shenzhen, China, or any subsidiary of that entity.”
Mr Trump claimed that the spread in the US of mobile applications produced and owned by Chinese firms “threaten the national security, overseas plan, and economic climate of the United States”.
