“I sense like I’m slowly and gradually shedding my head and I really do not know what to do about it. Absolutely everyone thinks there’s something completely wrong with me,” the eponymous character of “Elyse” states in a new trailer for the film. Stella Hopkins’ directorial debut tells the story of a lady (Lisa Pepper) who struggles to differentiate concerning reality and delusion.
“She appreciates anything isn’t suitable,” we’re advised. “Everything in her lifestyle is a lie. She lives a fabricated lifestyle, a fairy tale, [an] embellished truth.” The place sees Elyse confiding in a psychologist, Dr. Lewis (Anthony Hopkins), and admitting that she thinks her have spouse is fearful of her.
The trailer is sparse on plot particulars, but the pic’s synopsis allows fill in the blanks. “In a psychotic blackout, Elyse commits vehicular manslaughter of her son and his nanny, Julia. Elyse isn’t the only target her delusional imagining, narcissism, and violence annihilate her husband. Memory and hallucination intertwine to expose a background of trauma, revealing the truth: Elyse is Catatonic and institutionalized in a State Clinic. Elyse’s restoration is reliant on the dissolution of her relationship, the restoration of the romance with her mother, and the mutual absolution with the nanny’s daughter, Carmen. It is the care from Dr. Lewis and the unconditional enjoy from her nurse, David, that assure Elyse a new lifetime.”
“Elyse” will be unveiled in theaters and on need December 4. Hopkins wrote the script with Audrey Arkins (“Killer Daddy Issues”).
